Kyrgyzstan

Providing a natural barrier between the oasises of the Taklamakan desert and the Central Asian civilisations, the mountaineous terrain of todays Kyrgyzstan, the Celestial Mountains of the Tian Shan, have always been one of the greatest challenges along the Silk Road.

Kyrgyzstan is probably the most westernised conglomerate of nationalities amongst the Central Asian countries. With a strong semi-nomadic heritage the country boasts fascinating customs amongst its friendly and hospitable people and tremendous trekking and climbing options in the mountain ranges of the Tian Shan and the Pamir Alay.
